Suggested Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Maintenance Schedule

Mercedes-Benz divides suggested maintenance intervals into two groups: A and B. The first Service A should occur after 2 years or 20,000 miles. After that, the service intervals switch between A and B every 2 years or 20,000 miles. Below, we detail the services we suggest during each maintenance interval for diesel Sprinters, as well as which Mercedes-Benz Sprinter parts should be checked and replaced at each:

Service Interval A

• Service brake & parking brake function test
• Check & correct tire pressure, including spare
• Check seat belts and buckles
• Change engine oil and oil filter
• Check the brake system fluid level
• Fill the windshield washer system fluid level
• Fill AdBlue® tank
• Replace the fuel filter
• Check tires for wear, damage, and cracks

Service Interval B

• Service brake & parking brake function test
• Check the function of exterior lighting
• Check headlamp range adjustment
• Check & correct tire pressure, including spare
• Lubricate hinges of rear doors (with code W54)
• Check front & rear windshield wipers, windshield, and headlight washer systems
• Check seat belts and buckles
• Check the first aid kit
• Check the water drain bores in the floor area of the sliding door
• Replace the dust/charcoal filter for the air-conditioning/heating system
• Change engine oil and oil filter
• Check the brake system fluid level
• Fill AdBlue® tank
• Replace the fuel filter
• Check power steering fluid level (with 4×4 code ZG3)
• Check all Poly-V belts for wear and damage
• Check all visible components in the engine compartment for damage and leaks
• Check all visible components of the vehicle’s underside for damage and leaks
• Check the front axle and the front axle joint
• Check the propeller shaft and flex disks
• Check axle shafts and axle boots (with 4MATIC® code A4M or 4×4 code ZG3)
• Check suspension struts, shock absorbers, springs, and auxiliary rubber springs
• Check tires for wear, damage, and cracks
• Assess the condition of brake pads and disks
• Automatic transmission: change oil and oil filter (after first B Service and every 80k miles thereafter)
• Transfer case: change oil (with 4×4 code ZG3) (after first B Service and every 80k miles thereafter)
• Front axle: change oil (with 4×4 code ZG3) (after first B Service and every 80k miles thereafter)

Additional Intervals In The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Service Schedule

In addition to intervals A and B, make sure to perform the following service tasks at the given intervals:

• Every service after 100k miles: Perform efficiency test of DPF w/ Xentry Diagnosis
• Every 160k miles or 5 years: Read out the operation counter of the electronic parking brake (with code B25)
• Every 2 years: Replace/flush brake fluid
• Every 60k miles or 4 years: Replace engine air filter
• Every 80k miles or 4 years: Replace Poly-V belt
• Every 220k miles or 15 years (every 3 years after): Replace coolant
• Every 180k miles or 10 years: Change gear oil in the rear axle
