Delaware Marathon Running Festival in Wilmington DE
Now that is officially spring, we’re going to see a lot more people out and enjoying the sunshine. In fact, with fantastic weather, it is much easier and much more fun for simple activities, such as going for a fun drive or going out for a nice jog. The springtime is especially exciting for runners, as it’s just about time for the Delaware Marathon Running Festival in Wilmington, DE. Let’s take a look at the events!
The Delaware Marathon Running Festival starts on April 26 with the full 26.2-mile marathon and a 13.1-mile half marathon. While in the past runners were used to a two-loop race, the new marathon course will take people through some of the most scenic and beautiful parts of downtown Wilmington, running through Brandywine Park along the Brandywine River, as well as through historic neighborhoods and Rodney Square.
This year’s marathon will be capped at a maximum of 1,000 runners, as well as only allowing 3,000 total runners across all events. While registration began last July, interested runners still have time to enter, as online registration will remain open until the end of the day on April 26.
Other events that are taking place during the Delaware Marathon Running Festival include a 3.1-mile 5K race, a relay marathon for a team of four runners, the Kids Fun Run and more.
