3 Food Pantries in Wilmington DE in Need of Donations

With Thanksgiving drawing near and the holiday season following close behind, now is as good a time as any to get out there and do what you can to help those in need in our community. And one of the biggest issues facing the less fortunate in our community is hunger. Thankfully for them, we have a tight-knit community of non-profit organizations working tirelessly to ensure everyone has enough food to put on the table day in and day out. But those organizations can’t continue doing the great work they do without our help. With that in mind, here are three food panties in Wilmington, DE, that are in need of donations.

The Ministry of Caring pantry shelves stocked with various food donations

The Ministry of Caring Inc. does a ton for our community – from medical and dental assistance to job training to the distribution of food, clothing, furniture and other basic household items. Those in need of those items can go to the Samaritan Outreach Distribution Center located at 1410 North Claymont Street. Those who want to donate food, clothing, furniture and basic household necessities can do the same. The Ministry of Caring Inc. is always looking for volunteers and monetary donations, as well.

Hanover Presbyterian Church

The Hanover Presbyterian Church, located at 1801 North Jefferson Street, is another group that does so much good for our community, including running a food bank and clothes closet for those in need of nutritious food and seasonal-appropriate clothing. Donations of food, clothing, time and money are always needed as the demand for them never takes time off.

St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church

The St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church Food Pantry is the largest volume Lutheran food pantry in all of Delaware, providing three days’ worth of emergency food provisions for around 1,000 families each month. They rely on donations and volunteers in order to keep up with the demand, so be sure to click the link to get more info on how to donate.

And if you find yourself in need of any kind of automotive service or a new Mercedes-Benz car or SUV to get you to and from the food pantries, please contact our friendly Mercedes-Benz of Wilmington staff right here in Delaware.
