2017 G550 4×4 Portal Axles

For the 2017 model year, the major performance enhancement made for the G550 4×4 is the addition of portal axles. Rather than the wheel center and axle input being limited to sitting at the same height, with a portal axle the two can be at drastically different heights. This allows for increased ground clearance and track width.

The new portal axles also have allowed for the use of the same suspension geometry, steering connections and drive shafts as other G-Class models. With the new axles you can get the performance features you already know are high quality with the G550 4×4’s enhanced capabilities.
