The all-new Mercedes-AMG CLS 53, Mercedes-AMG E 53 Coupe and Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet will each feature a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder in-line engine that itself features an exhaust gas turbocharger and electric auxiliary compressor. Each model will also feature an AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission and AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive with fully variable torque distribution. These powertrains are able to pump out up to 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque while going from zero to 60 miles per hour in just over 4 seconds. These powertrains will also feature an EQ Boost starter-alternator, which brings us to our next point…

What is the EQ Boost Starter-Alternator?

The EQ Boost starter-alternator pairs a starter motor and alternator in an electric motor that is placed between the engine and transmission of these three all-new 53-Series models. What that means for you is that you’re getting the same AMG-inspired performance out of all three models all while using less gas and reducing emissions. The EQ Boost starter-alternator also provides additional horsepower and torque boosts, which also help to increase your acceleration capabilities.
