Named after former Jazz musician Clifford Brown, the Wilmington, DE, area puts on a fantastic jazz festival to celebrate and remember the performer. For those wondering when the 2017 DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival is, it will be taking place from Wednesday, June 21 through Saturday, June 24.
Clifford Brown was a trumpet player, composer and entertainer from Wilmington, DE. Born in 1930, Brown was unfortunately killed in a car accident when he was just 25 years old. However, even at such a young age, Brown inspired and influenced many famous jazz trumpet players, as well as the people of Wilmington.
That is why each year, the city of Wilmington arranges the festival to remember the great legacy that Clifford Brown left behind. The 4-day festival allows people from all over the area to enjoy performances from local and national jazz musicians, as well as sing along and dance to the music.
